在安裝完vSphere Data Protection一段時間之後

也穩定備份了一段時間！！～

就在一個風和日麗的下午，switch就硬生生的與世長辭，一點想道別的意味都沒有。

然後我就很快速的把電話線拔起來(免得有接不完的電話~(笑))

緊急的跟廠商調了一台新的switch上去之後

測試一下環境、ERP、虛擬系統...等之類的一些設定是否有異常。

確定沒異常後，就開放User繼續使用了。

結果當天晚上開始，我就沒有收到vdp的備份成功email了。

就這樣無視了兩天....直到有一天良心發現，登入VMware Web Client連線VDP

按下connected，結果給我出現..........

 

「Error  The VDP appliance is not responding. Please try your request again.

Would you like to be redirected to the VDP configuration screen to troubleshoot the issue?」

這時我開始檢查VDP-Configure是否出現了問題。

結果也是沒問題，一切運作都是正常的，除了沒發email通知外，其餘都正常備份。

 

但是為何不能connected VDP呢???

我大概翻遍VMware VC的log，就是不見VDP的錯誤訊息。

結果我寫了一封support給VMware原廠問問。

原廠工程師請我按照以下的步驟，進行處理。1.您是否嘗試重開VDP server？
2.請重新配置VDP與VC的聯繫。

以上這兩項我都做過，也重新配置過，不過還是不行。

建議有遇到這種問題的話。可以多做以下這幾種確認。
1、nslookup 解析，正解析反解析
2、AD Server 服務運作確認
3、VC Server 服務運作確認
4、VC Server上的防火牆是否有起肖。VMware VC Server Port列表(官方連結)

 

最後我與原廠討論出來的結果。原廠給了我一份文件，可能是這個問題產生的原因。
這份文件是尚未公布的草案，不過已經是原廠那邊既有的問題了(未來一定會有patch修掉)

Symptoms

From the vSphere Web Client, the VMware Data Protection Plug-In cannot connect to the appliance. You observe the following symptoms:

• The following error is displayed:
  
  The VDP appliance is not responding. Please try your request again. Would you like to be redirected to the VDP configuration screen to troubleshoot the issue?
• From the VDP configuration screen the test of the connection has been validated.
• If you try to reconnect the VDP Plug-In, the issue persists.

Cause

One of the possible causes is that the VDP Plug-In cannot connect to the Virtual Center Server if the Virtual Center Server uses a port other than the standard HTTPS port 443 (For example, HTTPS port 444).

This is a known issue and is scheduled to be fixed in a future release of VDP.

Resolution

As a workaround, please configure vCenter Server to use the standard HTTPS port 443.

 

原廠建議我：So you has setup successfully a new install with VC on standard port 443 and it works.

結果，原因是因為我家VC上的default port不是443，所以斷網後VDP也就跟著掛了!!!!!!!

這答案另我很不能接受。

要不然VMware乾脆在Admin Guide上寫，要用VDP的，VC default Port不能做修改。否則會有問題。

不然之前裝好就可以好好運作，重開機也沒問題。

算了！！！等官方修改patch出來吧！～
